Recipe keeper apps compared
Nine apps that save and organize recipes, compared on what most people ask about: price, where they run, saving from social video, sharing with a household and printing a cookbook.
Free while we are in beta. No credit card.
At a glance
Yes, we make one of these apps, so take our row with a grain of salt. Every fact about the other apps comes from their own website, help pages or app store listing. Where an app's own pages say nothing about a feature, we say “not mentioned” rather than guess.

Which one is right for you
Paprika if you want a one-time purchase and native apps on every computer, including Windows. Paprika 4, in beta, adds saving from social media, scanning photos and family sharing as Premium features. Paprika compared with Snap and Simmer.
Mela if your household is all Apple and you want a one-time price with a shared iCloud library.
ReciMe or Deglaze if you save lots of YouTube recipes, which both handle. ReciMe compared with Snap and Simmer.
Samsung Food if meal planning and shared grocery lists matter more than the recipe box itself. Samsung Food compared with Snap and Simmer.
Copy Me That if you want the lowest price and a simple web recipe box.
Snap and Simmer if your household shares one collection with different people allowed to do different things, you save from TikTok, Reels, Facebook and Pinterest as often as from websites, and you want to turn the best of it into a printed family cookbook.
Where Snap and Simmer falls short today
- No YouTube. Paste the recipe's web page instead, if there is one.
- The iPhone app is still in beta and the Android app is not out yet. On phones it runs in the browser.
- No direct import from Paprika, Mela or other apps yet. Recipes you saved from websites can be saved again by pasting their links.
- Linked videos can be up to three minutes long, with 5 video watches a month per kitchen while we are in beta.
What to look for in a recipe keeper
- How it saves: links, photos of cookbook pages and cards, social video, pasted text.
- Whether it changes the recipe. Snap and Simmer never fills in an amount or a step the source left out.
- Who can use it: one person, a shared login, or a real household where each person signs in as themselves.
- Where it runs: the phones and computers everyone in your house actually uses.
- What it costs over a few years, and what the free version can do.
- Whether you can get your recipes out again, as a printed book or a PDF.
