Snap and Simmer is a recipe keeper you share with the people you cook with. This page explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and how to delete your account. It covers the website at snapandsimmer.com and the Snap and Simmer apps for iPhone and Android.
The short version: we keep what you save so the app works, we share it only with the services that run Snap and Simmer for us, we never sell it, and you can delete your account at any time.
We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't build profiles of you for advertising.
Recipes live in a kitchen. Everyone in that kitchen can see its recipes, and what each person can change depends on their role (owner, partner or member). Some things stay yours alone, such as a member's shopping lists and private picks. A recipe is visible to someone outside your kitchen only if someone in your kitchen shares a link to it.
We share information with these companies only as needed for them to do their job for us:
| Service | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Railway | Hosts our servers and database | Everything stored in the app |
| Cloudflare | Stores photos; paints recipe pictures; turns video speech into text | Photos, recipe titles and ingredients, video sound |
| Anthropic | Reads recipes from pages, text, photos and videos; suggests tags and shopping aisles; helps write cookbook pages | What you send us to read, and the recipes, ratings and comments a cookbook page is written from |
| Apify | Downloads TikTok and Instagram videos you link to | The link |
| Resend | Sends our emails | Your email address and the email |
| Stripe | Takes payment for printed books and subscriptions | Your payment details, email and, for a subscription, your kitchen's name |
| Lulu | Prints and ships books | The book files and the shipping name, address, phone and email |
We don't sell your information and we don't share it for advertising. We would disclose information only if the law required it.
You can delete your account at any time, in the app or on the web: open Settings (the You tab), then Delete my account. You can also go straight to snapandsimmer.com/delete-account and sign in. Before anything is deleted we show you exactly what will happen:
If a printed book you ordered is still being printed or shipped, you can delete your account once it arrives. Copies in our backups are removed as those backups expire, within 60 days. Stripe keeps its own record of payments as the law requires.
You can also email us to ask for a copy of your information or to have it corrected or deleted.
We keep your account and what you save for as long as you have an account. Temporary files, such as uploaded videos, are deleted once they have been read. Request logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting.
Connections to Snap and Simmer are encrypted, passwords are stored only as hashes, and access to our systems is limited. No service can promise perfect security, but we work to protect your information.
Snap and Simmer isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll let you know by email or in the app.
